Day 3 in New York
Distance walked: 8.36 miles
Steps: 20,007
More sights
We knew we wanted to head over to Central Park today so we took a meandering route through Grand Central Station and past the Chrysler Building on our way to the zoo.
E Corp
On the way up Midtown East, we passed a building that looked very familiar - the E Corp headquarters from Mr Robot!
We both loved the series and neither of us were expecting to see this building so it was a nice little extra to our walk.
Zoo!
When Rachael last visited New York, the one thing she wanted to do but never got to was Central Park Zoo so this was the one certainty we knew that we were going to fit in.
Park life
After an exciting time at the zoo, we stopped of for a cheese pretzel. Rachael loved it but Andi was slightly put off by the use of what he called "squirty cheese" in the middle of it.
After a lot of complaining about the quality of cheese in America, we walked up to Bethesda Place and over Bow Bridge.
It's all history
On the west side of Central Park is the Museum of Natural History which is attached to the Rose Center for Earth and space.
Lost
The museum was an absolutely huge and complex building and despite Andi's best efforts to navigate to the exhibits we wanted to see, the museum appeared to be completely unnavigable.
Can you feel the love tonight?
The day before when Andi was in a coffee shop, he spotted an advert for last-minute theatre tickets so we decided to go and see a performance of The Lion King on Broadway; something Andi had never seen.
It was the best theatre performance Andi had ever seen and probably the most memorable for both of us.
Rachael's memory
"This was one of my favoutite days because I'd always wanted to go to Central Park Zoo and to share it with Andi was just even more special"
Andi's memory
"If you are going to see The Lion King, then seeing it on Broadway is probably the only way to do it; everything about it was incredible!"
